Finally, I get back to blogging. Well, the gardening thing at Pike panned out...that was ages ago. As some of you know, I finally gained employment in December 2010, after almost 2 years being mostly unemployed. I was rehired by my old company and started back on Dec. 27.
I had an "epiphany" of sorts at work last Friday. A high school friend down in Albany is a home and business organizer. She was selling some items she posted photos of over facebook for a client, who is moving. I have been wanting a canoe or kayak or stand up paddle board for some time now. Since I have a truck with a short bed, but no rack for hauling, I had been needing a way to haul said item(s). Kim had a truck rack for sale that probably would have cost me $150 +....but I got it from her for $20!!!
Backing up, my "epiphany was to make a quick trip down to Albany to see my family and to look at the rack. I had a few hours overtime from last Monday, which was book submittal day on the job for my Clayton/Henry Counties book....I was in a lull and had been helping another coworker with one of his big books while slowly doing mine which had been trickling in. I asked around and everyone was caught up---asked my boss if he would mind me cutting out at 3pm and he was fine with that.
Ran home, fed the dog and threw a change of clothes in the pickup and headed down. Saturday morning me, mom and dad took my 2 nephews fishing at Mayor Adams' farm in Terrell County. I left Albany around 2:30 to come back. COnstruction work around Unadilla on I-75 and a bad wreck at Locust Grove exit caused me not to get home till around 7:30, but I still had time to get ready and head out to a birthday of a friend's at 57th Fighter Group (http://www.the57threstaurant.com/) at Peachtree-Dekalb Airport. It was a BUSY weekend and I rested all day today, a nice, cool misty day to do it!
